In 2026, we held the fourth iteration of the SHROOM Shared Task series: SHROOM-Visions (\textbf{S}hared-task on \textbf{H}allucinations and \textbf{R}elated \textbf{O}bservable \textbf{O}vergeneration \textbf{M}istakes in \textbf{Vision} language model\textbf{s}), which is hosted at the UncertaiNLP Workshop co-located with EMNLP 2026. Following the success of the 2024 and 2025 tasks, this time we aim to tackle hallucinations through a model-agnostic detection task focused on large vision-language models. Building on the recently introduced SHEEP dataset, designed for long-term evaluation across model generations, the task invites participants to detect and classify fine-grained hallucination spans in image-conditioned text generation (VQA, image captioning, etc.). The evaluation uses a five-class taxonomy of hallucinations spanning four languages: Chinese, English, French, and Italian. The shared task generated strong interest in the NLP community worldwide, with 27 teams contributing 600+ system submissions. The best systems achieve average scores of 0.58 in character-level correlation, 0.46 in label-conditioned correlation, and 0.51 in intersection-over-union (IoU) across four languages, outperforming the baselines by 30-40 points.

This overview paper presents the results of the shared task for the second workshop on Multimodal Augmented Generation via Multimodal Retrieval (MAGMaR). In this shared task participants submitted systems focused on either (i) video retrieval or (ii) grounded generation of articles given retrieved videos. Teams could submit to either task. For the retrieval task, we had 2 participating teams that submitted a total of 17 systems -- all of which beat a baseline derived from the winner of last year's shared task. On the generation side, we had 4 teams submit 16 systems. All teams had at least one generated report that was labeled the best by a human annotator.

We present the University of Florida Gators submission to the AmericasNLP 2026 shared task on cultural image captioning for Indigenous languages. Our two-stage pipeline generates a Spanish intermediate caption with Qwen2.5-VL, then produces the target-language caption using retrieval-augmented many-shot prompting with Gemini 2.5 Flash. We achieve 164.1%, 131.7%, and 122.6% improvements over the shared task baseline for Bribri, Guaraní, and Orizaba Nahuatl captioning, respectively, in our dev set evaluation and maintain >150% improvements for the Bribri and Orizaba Nahuatl languages in the test set evaluation. We find retrieval is highly language-dependent, beneficial only for large, in-domain corpora, and that synthetic data augmentation accounts for around 28 chrF++ of the dev set Guaraní performance gain. Our submission is the overall winner of the shared task, placing second out of five finalist submissions in human evaluations of target-language captions.
