Reinforcement-learning-based quantum architecture search (RL-QAS) repeatedly optimizes a variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) after extending a circuit, although circuit construction and action legality are deterministic and known. We introduce DreamQAS, a model-based RL framework that preserves these exact circuit dynamics and learns only the expensive post-VQE feedback. A recurrent randomized-prior ensemble predicts an oracle-free score relative to an empirical energy frontier and supports multi-step imagined policy learning over explicit legal circuits. Ranking-based activation, uncertainty-aware pessimism and truncation, and selective real-VQE verification form a reliability-controlled learning loop. Under a common 15,000-episode budget and frozen evaluation for the RL methods, DreamQAS has the lowest mean frozen-policy energy error on four of five molecular tasks and the second-lowest on one. At fine-error targets reached by all seeds of both methods, it uses 1.6x to 2.0x fewer real VQE calls on four tasks and 10.6x fewer on BeH2-8q. Counterfactual action-ranking utility increases across all five tasks, with a mean increase of 0.346 and a 95 percent confidence interval of [0.185, 0.507], while direct greedy and beam use of the same model does not recover the gains of imagined policy learning. Ensemble disagreement also improves risk-coverage over random rejection on all three probed tasks. These results establish a world-model design for QAS whose value lies in decision-useful feedback rather than exact energy prediction.
We present, to our knowledge, the first adaptation of Pauli Correlation Encoding (PCE) to quantum topological data analysis, reformulating Betti number estimation as a depth-efficient variational optimization over a compressed qubit register. From a Takens embedding and Vietoris--Rips filtration of S&P~500 returns, we extract combinatorial Laplacians and recast null-space counting as a continuous-PCE Rayleigh-quotient minimization with variational deflation, encoding $n_k$ simplex indices into $O(n_k^{1/κ})$ qubits with shallow, ancilla-free circuits. Because the resulting loss is rational rather than bilinear in the correlators, the barren-plateau bound of~\cite{Sciorilli25} does not transfer; empirically the gradient variance decays only polynomially, with no exponential barren plateau, over $n=4$--$12$ qubits. The classical stage matches ripser~\cite{bauer2021ripser} on all 190 sliding windows (2007-2009). On the real market Laplacians ($β_1=1$--$22$), warm-starting from a classical null-space surrogate allows PCE-VQE to recover $β_1$ exactly at every scale, placing the obstacle in the optimisation landscape rather than the encoding. Chronologically split classification gives in-regime ROC AUC $0.818$, but out-of-distribution evaluation on the 2020 COVID shock and 2022 rate cycle (AUC $0.009$, $0.515$) shows the calibration does not generalize across crisis regimes.

The design of high performing quantum circuits remains largely dependent on human expertise. We introduce an autonomous agentic framework that employs large language models (LLMs) to conduct iterative quantum circuit designs under explicit design constraints. Our system integrates seven components: Exploration, Generation, Discussion, Validation, Storage, Evaluation, and Review. These components form a closed-loop workflow that combines web-based knowledge acquisition, literature-grounded critique, executable code generation, and experimental feedback. We evaluate the framework on two tasks: quantum feature map construction for quantum machine learning and ansatz generation for variational quantum eigensolver applications in quantum chemistry. In image classification benchmarks, the best generated feature map outperforms representative quantum feature maps and, when scaled to larger qubit counts, surpasses the classical radial basis function kernel. In molecular ground state estimation across seven molecules, the generated ansatz attains competitive accuracy with widely used chemically inspired and hardware-efficient constructions while satisfying the imposed scaling constraints. These results establish LLM driven agentic system as a viable paradigm for automated quantum circuit design and illustrate how AI systems can participate in iterative scientific optimization workflows across scientific domains.
